“You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”

Origin or Interpretation（起源ないし解釈）
This proverb expresses the idea that one cannot have or use something in two conflicting ways, especially if one choice prevents the other. It emphasizes the impossibility of possessing something while consuming it. In essence, it highlights the need to make choices and accept the consequences of those choices. Some would say “You can’t eat your cake and have it too.” which conveys the same meaning.
